WEST OF THE EDGE | FRANK AMERICA [NOVELLA EXCERPT]

WEST OF THE EDGE COVER..png

Working away on my new novella entitled, WEST OF THE EDGE. The story takes place on the west side of Los Angeles, through the eyes of the protagonist, ‘P’ (an homage to Kafka’s ‘K’, in The Trial) and transpires over a single day (a tip of the hat to Joyce’s Ulysses - who also mixed real news events in with fiction) following a singular and unexplained phenomenon seen over the skies of California on Nov 7th, 2015, which actually happened. Here’s an excerpt:

P. mused that the ocean held mysteries. To him, it was all one ocean, in effect, divided by many names, many maps, many territories; the Pacific Ocean was the Atlantic Ocean which is the Indian Ocean which is the Arctic Ocean, we just divided it up by names, names make boundaries, boundaries create stability, support, and the capacity to understand something, but it was all one ocean, and all land on God’s green earth that we knew as continents, were just islands surrounded by the sea.
